About the Plan
Pigeon Lake is a significant recreational amenity to Leduc and Wetaskiwin Counties, as well as the Capital Region as a whole. As such, it has attracted increasing development activity, particularly over the past few years. During this same time period, serious concerns have been raised with regards to the water quality and lake water level. In response, Leduc County has launched an Area Structure Plan (ASP) encompassing all of the Pigeon Lake watershed which lies within the County, as well as some lands outside of the watershed area (see map below). Significant resources have been mobilized to ensure that the health of the lake is prioritized and that development, where it occurs, is carried out in a responsible, respectful, and sustainable way.
This website forms an important and innovative part of our planning process. Leduc County would like to invite the communities of Pigeon Lake to get involved and contribute your thoughts and insights directly to the Area Structure Plan Team. Through this site, you can review draft reports, catch up on what’s new with the ASP, comment on our blog posts, upload photos, and link in to other Pigeon Lake websites as well as the County’s website.
The North Pigeon Lake Area Structure Plan process was launched in May 2009 and is expected to run through the end of October 2009. There will be several opportunities for public input through organized conversations and workshops. As well, this website provides you the opportunity to contribute additional comments at your convenience.
All of the baseline reports and background technical data will be posted to the North Pigeon Lake ASP site and made available for free download. As well, draft versions of the evolving Area Structure Plan will be available for review and comment. Notification of public events will appear on this site, and the findings of these events will be posted soon after they occur.
With your help, we will develop an Area Structure Plan that addresses what has happened in the past, provides strategies for how to grow in the present, and articulates a vision for the future of the North Pigeon Lake area.

I think that until the water issues are repaired there should not be any further developement around Pigeon Lake.
