North Pigeon Lake ASP

On Tuesday July 14th we had our third in a series of public meetings for the North Pigeon Lake Area Structure Plan.  There were a lot of new faces in the room, and that was great to see.  Nearly 100 people came out to talk things over, learn from each other, share their values, and listen.  By the end of the meeting, the participants had created a report outlining everything that is important to them in doing this plan, and had formally submitted that report to project lead Tom Schwerdtfeger.  The report will be posted to this website shortly.

At this point in the planning process the County is now ready to begin carrying out the technical studies that must be done.  There is a water specialist, an environmental scientist, an agrologist, several engineers, planners, and designers who will be looking at the land and the lakeshore in detail over the next few weeks.  Our next public meeting will take place in the fall, once all of our studies are finished.

On June 18th, the residents and stakeholders of the Pigeon Lake area gathered once again to continue work on arriving at a common vision for the lake area in Leduc County.  Participants contributed their knowledge of the Pigeon Lake area, as well as their hopes, values, and concerns as the planning process moves forward.

Well it took some time, but we now have pictures up in the gallery page from our first public event.  The people who joined us had lots to say about how the lake used to be, how it is now, what can be done to make things better, and who can help.  We documented all of it and have discussed your concerns with the Area Structure Plan design team.  We look forward to seeing you all next week at Event #2!
